JACKSON — Edward Lowry Newman Jr., 71, of Water Valley, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Calhoun County with Brother Fred Eakes officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. until serivce time at the church. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Bruce, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed working, gardening, horses and running his sawmill, as well as spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lantrip Newman of Water Valley; daughters Michelle Dickerson of Hurley and Cindi Newman of Water Valley; sons Michael Newman of Starkville and Elton Newman of Water Valley; sisters Ellen Russell and Debbie Newman, both of Water Valley, and Rebekah Newman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
