OXFORD — Melisa Hope Smith, 45, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at her residence near Oxford. Visitation will be held today from 5-7 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Employed at the University Inn in the housekeeping department, she was an avid animal lover who spent time each day feeding and caring for her pets. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and fishing, but especially took pleasure in time spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Mitchell and Billie Jean Mitchell, and sister Kim Thornhill.

She is survived by her husband, Clifton Michael Smith of Oxford; son Michael Lee Wells of Oxford; stepdaughter Samantha Smith of Oxford; brothers Jim Mitchell, Danny Mitchell and Floyd Mitchell; and a grandchild.
