Developer David Blackburn’s persistence and willingness to follow the process to annex into the city was rewarded.

He first went before the Oxford Planning Commission, which gave its seal of approval so it could go before the Oxford Board of Aldermen. Now it’s on its way to Lafayette County Chancery Court for a judge’s decision.

Following the process can be arduous, but it will pay off both for Blackburn and for Oxford and Lafayette County residents.

He is paying all expenses in order to be inside the city limits because more businesses will be a part of his development, The Summit at Oxford Commons. That means his 35-acre site could have a neat, new restaurant on site, or a store everyone will want to shop at.

This is a great example of a success story for what happens when you follow the process and are willing to do what it takes to make something happen.

We’re looking forward to seeing what businesses will open up in Oxford and how it adds to both the residential quarters of the Commons and the entertainment side with the movie theater and bowling alley.
