At about 5 a.m., Thursday, Oxford Police Department officers responded to Lafayette Place apartments for a reported robbery.

According to reports, the caller said a friend was at his home when they got into a verbal altercation that lead to a fight. The suspect then grabbed a knife and tried to rob the victim of his wallet and phone. The victim then fled on foot while being chased.

A security guard at the complex saw the men running and went over to assist. The suspect then left the area.

The victim claimed the incident happened around 3 a.m. He suffered minor cuts. No arrests have been made.
