Thankful for police officers

We are thankful for the jobs our police do in serving the community on a daily basis, but this moment deserves pause and a special thank you.

Our law enforcement agencies, including police and sheriff’s department officials in Oxford, Lafayette County, Ole Miss, Water Valley and Yalobusha County, put themselves in harm’s way for our protection each and every day.

And we are thankful.

Being a law enforcement officer is not easy and it has become more difficult in recent years as tensions between race and police have risen.  in some communities.

The Dallas police shootings have broken our hearts and raised our awareness that officers here, and everywhere, should be thanked and supported for their willingness to serve.

They put themselves in harm’s way and sometimes are treated aggressively simply because they are wearing a badge. As tensions rise in other communities on the race and police storyline and become national dialogue, we must remember that our officers feel the same emotion and strain that we do watching it all unfold.

That’s why our officers need our support, and a special thank you for their willingness to serve. They work on our behalf and their efforts in the name of fairness to all our appreciated.
