MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Jimmie “Tight” McEwen, 85, formerly of Oxford, died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, in Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in New Bethel Church, 2219 Stovall St., in Memphis, with burial in Hurricane Creek Cemetery on County Road 141. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at N.J. Ford Funeral Home, 12 South Parkway, in Memphis. Hodges Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn “Jet” McEwen; children, Baretta Mosley and George Carothers, both of Oxford, Tjuan McEwen, Melvin Terrell, Evelyn Vanderhook, Lewis Vanderhook and Angela Vanderhook, all of Memphis; siblings, Jeff, David, Pate, Calvin, Erma and Annie.
