Did you know parent involvement is a predictor in how well a child performs in school? School officials do, and that’s why Bramlett Elementary School invites all school parents to a special back-to-school night on Tuesday, Aug. 30 designed just for them.

The back-to-school event — which will take place on the 225 Bramlett Boulevard school campus in Oxford — will give parents ideas on how they can become involved in their child’s education right from the start.

At 5 p.m., the BES Parent Teacher Organization will host a “Get to Know the PTO” event open to all school families. Parents can find out how to get involved in planned school activities throughout the year and will also hear how they can join the school organization, if they wish to do so.

From 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., kindergarten- and first-grade classrooms will host one-on-one teacher-parent meetings. Prekindergarten classroom meetings will not take place for prekindergarten classes at this time.

During the classroom meetings, teachers and parents will visit topics together, which include upcoming school year activities, classroom procedures, and ways in which parents can help their students academically grow this school year.

“Our youngest school students’ educational story starts at Bramlett,” says BES Principal Suzanne Ryals. “We hope our parents will embrace this opportunity to see how important their involvement in our school is to their child’s academic success, not just this school year, but throughout their time in our school district.”

School officials say childcare will not be provided during the back-to-school event.
