Ole Miss’ second-half collapse against Florida State was accompanied by a tumble in the polls Tuesday.

The Rebels dropped eight spots to No. 19 in the Associated Press top 25 following their 45-34 loss to the Seminoles on Monday in Orlando — a game Ole Miss led 28-6 late in the second quarter.

Ole Miss also came in at No. 18 in the Amway Coaches poll.

The ranking matched Tennessee and Notre Dame for the third-furthest drop among ranked teams. No. 14 Oklahoma dropped 11 spots following its loss to then-No. 15 Houston last week while No. 21 LSU plummeted 16 spots after its two-point loss to then-unranked Wisconsin, which made its appearance at No. 10 this week.

Alabama and Clemson retained the top two spots in the poll, respectively, while the comeback win over Ole Miss bumped Florida State up one spot to No. 3. Rounding out the top 10 are  Ohio State, Michigan, Houston, Stanford, Washington, Georgia and the Badgers, respectively.

Ole Miss will open its home slate Saturday against Wofford, an FCS opponent. It’s the first of a four-game homestand for the Rebels, who get the top-ranked Crimson Tide and Georgia the next two weeks before playing host to regional rival Memphis the first Saturday in October.
