Allen Ray Wright, Sr.

Mr. Allen Ray “Al” Wright, Sr., 89, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at his home in Oxford.  The funeral service will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Dickinson officiating.  Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born to the late Thomas Winford and Myrie India Burford Wright, Mr. Wright was a retired millwright in Valparaiso, Indiana and a member of the Regional Council of Carpenters Union. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Upon retirement, the Wrights moved to Oxford and were members of College Hill Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wright of Oxford; a daughter, Beverly Perkins of Oxford; a son, Allen Ray Wright, Jr. of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In honor of his service to our country, the flag of the United States Navy will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
