OXFORD —Mary Ellen Higdon, 86, of Water Valley, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Camp Ground Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry King officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Sam Higdon Sr.; two daughters, Debra Overby and Donna Conaway; son Willie Higdon; seven brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter Lucy Gilley of Dumas, Arkansas; sons Jessey Higdon of Bruce and Sam Higdon, Jr., of Water Valley; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-granchildren.
