Ole Miss Motel violence: one dead, another injured

The Oxford Police Department is investigating a possible homicide at the Ole Miss Motel.

At 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the Oxford Police Department responded to the Ole Miss Motel on University Avenue for a welfare check. They discovered one man dead and another with serious injuries.

According to OPD, Henry Chandler Jenkins, 39, of Lafayette County was pronounced dead at the scene by Lafayette County Corner Rocky Kennedy.

The second man, Donald Ludie Lassiter, 52, of Pennington, Alabama, was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi for treatment and remains in the custody of OPD.

OPD released a statement today that the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
