The rosters for the annual Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic as well as the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Classic were released Wednesday morning by the Mississippi Association of Coaches with Lafayette and Oxford being represented in each.

The Commodores’ Tyler Williams was selected to play in the Mississippi-Alabama game, which takes place in Montgomery, Alabama on Dec. 10. Williams, a Mississippi State commit who plays receiver and cornerback, has played well for Lafayette with five touchdowns on the year and has been solid on defense.

“I think it’s a huge honor and a great opportunity,” Lafayette coach Michael Fair said of Williams’ selection. “That’s the best that his state has to offer. … It was a lot of fun letting him know. Tremendous football athlete, competitor and a really good teammate. Anything that you could want in a player, he’s got it.”

Joining Williams in the game will be Oxford’s Colton Skidmore. The Chargers’ senior center was the lone player on Oxford’s roster to get chosen for the game.

“I was so happy for (Skidmore),” Oxford coach Chris Cutcliffe said. “He has worked tremendously hard for years. I couldn’t be more proud of him and all the hard work he put in to get there.”

Along with Williams and Skidmore, both Oxford and Lafayette had one player each get picked to represent the North for the Bernard Blackwell game, which takes place in Gulfport on Dec. 17.

Oxford linebacker DQ Thomas and Lafayette offensive lineman Matt Toles were selected to play for Water Valley’s Brad Embry, who was selected to be the head coach for the North team.
