Charlene Bundren Mize

Charlene Bundren Mize, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at her home in Oxford. The funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Oxford, with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. A catered visitation and reception will take place Thursday evening, Oct. 13, 2016, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home.

Born in Taylor to the late James Hugh and Susie Mae Evans Bundren, Mrs. Mize was owner of the Beacon since April 1959. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she participated in the Friendship Sunday School class. She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette County and her entire life revolved around taking care of her many friends and family at the Beacon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Flem Mize.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Elmore and her husband David of Oxford; her son, Tony Mize and his wife Catherine of Oxford; four grandchildren, Paige Davis and her husband John, Melissa Feathers and her husband Corey, Lee Mize and his wife Randall, and Kelli Briscoe and her husband Bradley and six great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Mize’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
