Danny Denton Brown, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Starnes and the Rev. Steve Quarles officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. A catered visitation and reception will be held Friday evening, Oct. 21, 2016 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Delay, Mississippi, to the late Robert Clarence and Hallie Denton Brown, Mr. Brown was retired from Fay Builders Supply in Memphis, Tennessee where he worked for 38 years. After moving to Oxford, he was a bus driver with Pontotoc City Schools for 15 years and also drove the team bus for Ole Miss for a year. He was a former deacon and member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee and a former member of White Station Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. He was currently a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by step-sisters, Sue Coleman and Jackie McCord; step-brother, Donald Franklin and grandchild, Andrew Cicalla.

Survivors include his wife, Alpha Jean Sparks Brown of Oxford; daughter, Deborah Denise Brown Buchanan and her husband, L.C. of Winder, Georgia; son, Danny Dean Brown and his wife, Kimberly of Arlington, Tennessee; step-sister, Flora James of Yocona; brother, Jim Brown of Jackson; step-brothers, Ken Franklin and Harold Franklin, both of Hernando; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
