It’s Halloween 2016 and the costumes are ready and children are eager for Halloween 2016 trick or treating which comes this year on Monday.

Yes, that’s a school night so trick or treating times are tricky — excuse the pun. Parents will want children back home but children don’t want to go out too early. So, here are tips for good trick or treating times etiquette.

First: What time does trick or treating start on Halloween?

Tip: Sunset. Usually trick or treaters don’t want to go out before dark so sunset is usually the time to begin. This year, sunset in the central U.S. will be at about 6:05 p.m. and it of course varies city-by-city so check the sunset forecast for your city here and get prepared because when that sun sets, it is time to go trick or treating.

Second: What time does trick or treating end on Halloween this year?

A good rule of thumb and something some cities even enforce is that trick or treating ends at 8 p.m. or no later than 9 p.m. That gives two to three full hours of trick or treating. Its rude to knock on doors much later than 9 p.m. unless they have all lights still on.

So that’s the trick or treating times for this Halloween 2016 (Monday, October 31). From about 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. are the best hours for getting candy.

Good luck.
