The Pantry thanks community for October support, donations

The Pantry Board would like to offer our sincere thanks to all of the community spirited members of Saint John’s Catholic Church who volunteered to serve 488 households, 282 children, 489 adults, and 289 seniors, for a total of 1,069 people in the month of October.

Many thanks and appreciation to Ole Miss Sigma Nu Fraternity. Sigma Nu’s philanthropy for the 2016-2017 school year kicked off with a bang over the Memphis football weekend. Dubbed “Foodstock”, they hosted a canned food drive which saw participation from various Greek organizations on campus. It was anticipated to raise 2,000 canned goods and ultimately superseded that goal through a total count of over 5,500 with Pi Beta Phi sorority contributing a fifth of the haul.

The mountain of goods was donated to the UM Food Bank, Oxford Pantry, Memory Makers, and more. The overwhelming success of Foodstock serves as a testament to the commitment to community service shared by the Greek community and while hopefully serve as the foundation to more impactful philanthropies in the coming years.
