Exercise your right tomorrow

Election Day is finally here, culminating one of the most contentious presidential campaigns in recent memory.

We have been bombarded with  a constant war of words, accusations of cheating from one candidate or the other and the FBI getting involved with checking emails in the final weeks leading up to the election.

Like most, we are glad this election is coming to an end. It has been ugly, to say the least.

Regardless of which candidate you favor, we encourage you to please cast a ballot and utilize your right to vote because there are also other local elected positions on the ballot.

Two school board seats are up for grabs in the Lafayette County School District, as well as a state Supreme Court race and congressional seat. And in some ways, these elected positions have more immediate significance within our community than the presidential election.

Polls will open at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Get out and vote.
