Mrs. Shelby Joyce Long McLarty, age 79, died at her home in New Albany, on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Curt Liles officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Oxford. The visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home.

Born to the late Lucian Troy and Lena Adams Long, Mrs. McLarty was a former member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany, MS and a current member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Oxford, MS. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother. Shelby enjoyed taking care of her immediate and extended family even being a caregiver to many family members.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Hugh White McLarty of New Albany; three sons, Michael Lynn McLarty of Myrtle, Mark Alan McLarty of Mooreville and Richard Hugh McLarty and his wife, Liz, of Memphis, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Jeremy and his wife, Joni, McLarty of Mrytle, Grace McLarty Of Memphis, Tennessee, Alex McLarty Of Moorevill, Lily McLarty of Memphis, Tennessee and Anna Cate McLarty of Mooreville; four great grandchildren, Lexi, Cash, Leighton, and Hoyt McLarty, all of Mrytle;   sister, Priscilla Ann Cochran of New Albany; and a brother, Jerry Wayne Long of New Albany.
