An Ole Miss student died Friday from an unknown medical condition while on a trip to Texas.

Raegan Barnhart, 21, was originally from Hernando, where she graduated from Magnolia Heights School, before coming to Oxford to attend the University of Mississippi where she was a senior dietetics and nutrition major.

Barnhart was a member of the Delta Gamma fraternity, which issued a statement after learning of Barnhart’s death.

“With great sadness and heavy hearts, we inform you Ole Miss Delta Gamma has lost a sister,” a statement on the DG Facebook read. “Raegan was an incredible asset to our chapter and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.”

Mindy Sutton, assistant vice chancellor of student affairs and dean of students at Ole Miss asked the university community to keep Barnhart’s family in their thoughts during the upcoming holiday.

“We are all deeply saddened to learn about Raegan’s passing,” said Sutton in the written statement. “While so many of us are spending time with our families and friends during this Thanksgiving break, please keep Raegan’s friends, classmates and family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Representatives from the University Counseling Center are available from Monday through noon Wednesday this week.

Barnhart is the third Ole Miss student to die this month.

On Nov. 1, Johnathan Arthur Cleveland, 20, died after his motorcycling collided with a pick-up on Highway 7 just outside of Holly Springs.

Cleveland was a sophomore criminal justice major at Ole Miss. He also served in the Ole Miss Army ROTC program.

Rivers McGraw, 20, died on Nov. 10 from a single gunshot wound after battling problems with addiction.
