Thanksgiving always a special week in Oxford

Welcome to one of the most delightful weeks in Oxford – the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State is our home game on Saturday, making Thanksgiving for many an extended holiday of family, friends and football.

And, of course, shopping. Yes. There’s that Black Friday moment, and we have more stores here than ever before to keep your dollars this holiday season at home.

But first, let’s cover Thanksgiving Day.  The EAGLE delivers that morning with almost two dozen inserts from area retailers and ads inside the paper that reveal all the special Black Friday shopping deals you can get close to home.

After the turkey and trimmings that day comes basketball as Ole Miss opens the doors for free admission to The Pavilion when the Rebels play Montana at 3 p.m.

We appreciate Ole Miss opening the doors to The Pavilion for this family-friendly experience and we hope to see an overflowing crowd.

By Saturday, the Grove will be back in action for the final time this year for more fun, food and festivities before Ole Miss and Mississippi State battle in football.

All in all, this is a special week in Oxford. Enjoy.
