Mrs. Clyde Bunch Brigance

Mrs. Clyde Bunch Brigance, 98, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Yalobusha County Hospital in Water Valley. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating.  Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Lafayette County to the late Carrie McElroy Bunch and Amos Turnage Bunch, Sr., Mrs. Brigance was the widow of Harry D. Brigance.  Formerly a member of Audubon Baptist Church and Park Avenue Baptist Church in Memphis, she was very active in church activities and especially enjoyed her time teaching the children’s Sunday school. She found her final church home at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Oxford. Mrs. Brigance was a retired clerk, an avid gardener and a longtime member of the Memphis Garden Club.

Along with her husband, she possessed a very caring and generous spirit with a soft heart for children.  Together, they provided resources to allow children to attend various summer camps as well as funds to support students attending college.  Along with her parents and her husband, Mrs. Brigance was preceded in death by two sisters, Nina Bunch Goolsby and Mae Bunch; two brothers, Horace H. Bunch and A.T. Bunch, Jr. and a niece, Lila Goolsby.

Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Wilma Bunch, Mollie Bunch and Jean Brigance and several nieces and nephews including Rita Vasilyev, Larry Bunch, Barbara Bunch Huling, Roy Bunch, Sue Keith, Beverly Halsted, Paul Jefferson Keith, Charles, Thomas and Linda Savage.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Brigance’s memory may be made to Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 45 CR 313, Oxford, MS 38655.
