Publix has emerged as one of the region’s most popular grocery shopping stores.

But, if you want to do Thanksgiving 2016 shopping at Publix grocery stores you had better do it before Thanksgiving Day.

Publix stores are closed, not open on Thanksgiving Day 2016.

This has been a tradition for years at Publix, which does heavy volume in the days leading up to Thanksgiving but no stores open that day.

Some years back Publix addressed the issue on its Facebook page, saying it closes on Thanksgiving Day so its associates can be with their families.

“Publix stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day so our associates can spend time with their friends and family. We will be open regular hours on Wednesday, November 23, and Friday, November 25. Happy Thanksgiving!”
