Mother Nature will determine if the annual Oxford Christmas Parade is held Monday evening, as scheduled, or postponed until Tuesday evening.

A considerable chance of rain in Oxford Monday means the parade may very well be held on Tuesday, but that’s just fine. Whenever the parade is held, it will be another installment of Oxford’s small-town flavor at its best.

Yes, the city may be growing and changing with every passing day but its annual Christmas parade, sponsored by the Oxford Lion’s Club, is a time-tested treat rooted in characteristics that remind we are still more Mayberry than New York.

And that’s a good thing.

We are thankful to the Oxford Lion’s Club for continuing this tradition. Participants can join the parade for free (registration required to be considered for awards) and organization is handled by the civic club’s members.

From marching bands to marching Scout troops and fire trucks, the Oxford Lion’s Club Christmas Parade is a family affair that brings the community together to celebrate the season and our wonderful community.

The rains won’t stop that. So, whether the parade is held as scheduled on Monday or Tuesday, Oxford’s Lions Club Christmas Parade will roll once again.

And we are thankful for that.
