James Richard Cox

James Richard (Rickey) Cox, age 65, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at his home in Oxford, Mississippi. A native of Tunica, Mississippi, Mr. Cox was the son of Rae Wheeler Cox and the late James Augustus Cox. He attended Tunica County High School and the University of Mississippi. In 1974, he married Kitty Block, also of Tunica, and began his 36-year career in pharmaceutical sales and management with Parke Davis and Pfizer.

Mr. Cox loved the Lord and served Him in various capacities, including elder and deacon. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Oxford and was looking forward to working on their new building campaign.

Mr. Cox was devoted to his family and took special delight in his three granddaughters, Bates, Jane and Mae. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, reading, traveling, and all things Ole Miss. He served as an officer of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Ole Miss and was an Eagle Scout.

He was preceded in death by his father Gus Cox and his brother Phil Cox. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kitty, his daughter Katie Moody (Marcus), his son Richard Cox Jr., and his three granddaughters.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at Christ Presbyterian Church in Oxford with the Rev. Curt Presley officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 10 a.m. until service time. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Tunica at 3 p.m.
