Thanking our clergy on Christmas Day

Published 7:00 am Saturday, December 24, 2016

Let’s give thanks this Christmas Day for the clergy serving Oxford.

We are blessed with caring leaders at our churches, and their impact on the community is felt each and every day.

During the Christmas season, for instance, they are busy serving us while we are busy running from here to there. So it is only fitting that we pause for a moment to give thanks.

When you see them at Christmas services, extend a warm hand or hug and say thank you, for all you do.

Or perhaps send them an email, or share this editorial as appreciation.

We wish we could call them all by name here, but they don’t relish individual attention anyway. But you know who they are because they serve you and your church throughout the year with caring hearts and leadership.

It can be a tough job, tending to us when hearts are broken and meeting our many needs. They rarely get a break, either.

But they have answered a calling and they serve, well.

In Oxford, many also reach out well beyond their own churches, being visible in the community with attention to larger needs.

So we give heart-felt thanks and supportive prayers to our clergy on this Christmas Day.
