An Oxford man was charged with domestic violence with aggravated assault against a female victim Friday.

According to the Oxford Police Department, a woman told investigators that John Hall, 33, strangled her to the point where she was gasping for air and he pulled a knife out and threatened to kill her.

Hall was located as the residence where the assault occurred and was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $5,000 bond.
