Mr. James A. (Jack) Spencer, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Mike Williams and Dr. Doug Shields, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 a.m. until service time.

Born to the late Roscoe Loy and Amy Dell Hollowell Spencer, Mr. Spencer who retired in 1996 from Printing Services at the University of Mississippi where he was a pressman. He was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Formerly from Memphis, he started his career at the Memphis Press Scimitar where he met his wife of 60 years. He supported his sons during their years in Boy Scouts and his daughter while she played on the Pizza Hut softball team. Mr. Spencer enjoyed attending and helping with the church baseball team and was a lifelong supporter of Ole Miss Rebel sports and the University Christian Student Center. He was a charter member of the Southaven Church of Christ in Southaven. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a Private First Class.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard Dennis Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Elaine Spencer of Oxford; daughter, Lisa Williams and her husband, Claude of Tupelo; son, Jimmy Spencer and his wife, Monica of Tupelo; grandchildren, Mary Heather Dozier and her husband, Jordan, Annina Rose Spencer, Amy Elizabeth Williams, James Richard Spencer and Cassie Lauren Williams, all of Tupelo, and great grandchildren, Emma Olivia Anderson and William Craig Dozier.

In honor of Mr. Spencer’s service to our country the flag of the United States Air Force will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
