Winnie Mae Wallace

Winnie Mae Wallace, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Pontotoc Extended Care in Pontotoc. She was born Jan. 11, 1925 in Walker County, Alabama, to Abe Myers and Wilma Cordelia Akins Myers. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Etta.

She worked eight years at Irwin B. Schwabe shirt factory in New Albany and then twenty five years at Kellwood Manufacturing, in Oxford as a supervisor. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. She loved to work in the yard with her flowers and with her husband, Jewel, in the garden. She also loved to work crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting, reading books and watching Wheel of Fortune. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Services were held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at United Funeral Service with Bro. Tim Green officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. United Funeral Service will be in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by two sons, Harold Jumper (Colleen Dona) of Pontotoc and Donny Jumper of Pinedale; two grandchildren, Leigh Ann Jumper Mercer of Hernando and Olivia Mink (Dewayne) of Boonville; four great grandchildren, Crystal Mercer (Bobby Lickteig), Michael Mercer, Tret Mink and Charli Mink; one great-great grandchild, Carson Lickteig; two sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Wallace and Janet Myers; and a brother-in-law, J.T. Willard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 50 years, Jewel Wallace; her siblings, Arlie Garner (Lila), Pauline Garner Holcomb (Loy), Mildred Garner Crump (Charles), Harvey Myers, Lawrence Myers, Catherine Myers Fulton (Eckfort), Zula Myers Montgomery (Leroy), Blanche Myers Willard, Tommie Myers, Erwin Burchfield (Bill Erwin and Olen Burchfield) and J.C. Myers; two brothers-in-law, Loyt Wallace (Elsie) and Leo Wallace; a sister-in-law, Hettie Mae Wallace Pickens (Curry); and the father of her children and former husband, Duel Jumper.

Pallbearers were Carlton Wallace, Mike Montgomery, Grant Hendrix, Terry Hendrix, Billy Montgomery, Tommy Wallace and Howard “Skinny” Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Garner, Ferrell Garett and Charles Collier.

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. til 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at the funeral home.
