On Wednesday, Oxford Police Department officers responded to The Connection in reference to a shooting. According to the report, the residents were inside the apartment when a single bullet came through their apartment window and lodged into their living room wall; no one was injured. Officers on scene were able to find a fired shell casing near the building.

The following day, investigators with OPD and agents with the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit conducted a canvas of the area. During a knock and talk at apartment 7738, narcotics was found in plain view which led to a search warrant for the residence.

During the execution of the search warrant, the firearm believed to be used in the shooting was located in a bedroom. The search warrant also yielded other arrests for drug related offenses.
