MEMPHIS, Tennessee — D.J. Kitchens, 88, of Toccopola, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at the Memphis VA Medical Center in Memphis. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

He was a veteran of the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Myrtle Melissa Baggett Kitchens and his daughter, Carolyn Jean Kitchens.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Birk and Virginia Ann Kitchens, both of Byhalia; brothers, Leonard Kitchens, Jimmy Kitchens and Reese Kitchens, all of Oxford, and three grandsons.
