OXFORD — James Dawson “Flip” Phillips, 90, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Jimmie Neyman and Martha Hollowell.

He is survived by his wife, Ruchell Phillips; sons Jimmy Phillips Jr. and Reid Owens, both of Oxford; daughter Mary Margaret Andrews of Oxford; step-son Cliff Smith of Oxford; brother Billy B. Phillips Jr. of Greenville; sister Mary Howse of Greenville; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
