Jimmy Ralph Wing, passed away on Feb 25, 2017, at Church Street Personal Care Home in Ecru. He was born on Feb 20, 1942, to William Ralph Wing and Lolita Bard Wing and grew up in East Prairie, Missouri.  He graduated high school in May 1960 from Bay County High School in Panama City, Florida. He married Della Sue McNabb in 1963, who also graduated from Bay County High School. He was blessed with the birth of two sons, Jason Bard Wing in 1967 and Eric Judson Wing in 1969.

He attended University of Florida where he obtained a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by Kaiser Aluminum Corporation for two years. He then began a career as a restaurateur with ownership of many Kentucky Fried Chicken and Wendy’s Hamburger franchises that were located throughout Mississippi and Northeast Florida panhandle regions.

Over many years following this venture he became vested in the agriculture industry with production of a variety of commodities that involved soybean, cotton, cattle and swine. This profession allowed him the opportunity to instill in his sons the work ethic and love of nature that would follow them into their adulthood.

In the latter decade of his 40’s he embarked on another phase of his education progression and obtained an Associate of Science from Northeast Community College, located in Booneville, in 1987.  To further his academia he continued until he was granted a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi in 1995. Although he never practiced the art of pharmacy, this knowledge of medicine would benefit him as he began a struggle with cancer and ongoing chemotherapy until the disease entered into a state of remission in 1997.

Living life now as a cancer survivor, he reestablished himself as an entrepreneur of independent business, incorporated his lost love of his agriculture endeavors and began a small landscape business in the Oxford area. This small business he cultured into one that quickly grew, to once again provide the daily necessities that allowed him to provide abundantly for his now grown family.

Jimmy sadly left this realm of existence to be with the Giver of Life on Feb. 25, 2017.  He is predeceased by his younger brother, Terry Lee Wing formerly of Meridian, his father William Ralph Wing and mother Lolita Bard Wing, both formerly of Germantown, Tennessee.  He is lovingly survived by his wife Della M. Wing, his two sons Jason Bard Wing of Tupelo, Eric Judson Wing, daughter-in-law Shannon Mace Wing and two grandsons, Judson Blake Wing and Banner Mace Wing, all from Birmingham, Alabama.

Memorial and visitation for Mr. Wing will be at the Coleman Funeral Home located at 601 Commerce Parkway Oxford, on Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of funeral services an intimate devotional ceremony will occur at 5:30 prior to memorial/visitation for any and all who wish to attend.
