Injuries cost Ole Miss receiver D.K. Metcalf and running back Eric Swinney the bulk of last season, but both are back this spring in varying degrees.

Head coach Hugh Freeze said before the Rebels’ first practice Tuesday that Metcalf is “full go.” The former Oxford High standout caught a touchdown in each of his first two college games before a broken bone in his foot sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Swinney will participate in non-contact drills Tuesday, Freeze said. A third-year sophomore, Swinney tore his ACL on his first carry against Florida State last season. It was the second season-ending injury in as many years for Swinney, whose true freshman season ended before it began when he suffered a stress fracture in his leg.

Safety Armani Linton recently had an appendectomy and “will be limited some” the first two weeks of practices, Freeze said. Redshirt freshman tight end Jacob Mathis will miss the entire spring with a broken foot.
