Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi will host a free Weight Loss Expo on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center.

The event is the first of its kind for BMH-NM and will feature presentations from general surgeons Dr. Walker Byars and Dr. Scott Therrien with Oxford Surgical and Bariatric Clinic, as well as healthy cooking sessions led by local celebrity chefs.

“This Expo is an excellent opportunity for the public to learn about the options available for weight loss at Baptist North Mississippi,” said Cindy Tatum, Weight Loss Center Coordinator at BMH-NM.

During the educational sessions, attendees will have the chance to interact with the physicians who perform weight loss surgeries at BMH-NM, hear testimonials from former patients and learn not only who is a candidate for weight loss surgery, but also what the surgery entails.

“As a health care leader, it is our responsibility to lead wellness initiatives in our community,” said Bill Henning, BMH-NM CEO and administrator. “We want everyone to know that Baptist cares about our community’s health and well-being.”

As an added bonus, health and wellness vendors will offer attendees smoothie samples, facials, makeup tips, door prizes, giveaways and much more. Nutritionists and fitness instructors will also be on hand to offer advice and ideas. A clothing swap will also be held during the event.
