Gerald Leverne Belvin

Gerald Leverne Belvin, 75, died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Sherman officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born in Sumter, South Carolina, to the late Duncan Lewis and Gertrude Cotton Belvin, Mr. Belvin was retired from the United States Marine Corps where he served two tours in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans and volunteered his time at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home doing karaoke. He also enjoyed doing karaoke on Friday nights at the VFW post 3978 for the past 12 years.

He enjoyed old cars and going to car shows. He owned a 2003 50th anniversary edition Corvette and a 1987 El Camino. He loved spending his time with his friends and family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracie Catherine Belvin; son, Kenneth Lewis Belvin and a grandson, Kenneth Tyler Alexander.

Mr. Belvin is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wanda Sue Cook Belvin of Oxford; daughters, Lori Vaughn and her husband, Tracy of Oxford, and Stacie Luker and her husband, Chad of Saltillo; sons, Jerry Jay Belvin of Coldwater, and Jeffrey David Miller and his wife, Paula of Oxford; sisters, Joy Belvin Hoffman and her husband, Herman of Walterboro, South Carolina, Wilma Young of Sumter, South Carolina, and Francine Clayton of Sumter, South Carolina; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Belvin’s memory may be made to the VFW National Children’s Home, 3573 South Waverly Road, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827.

In honor of Mr. Belvin’s service to our country the flag of the United States Marine Corps will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
