Some Oxford University Transit buses are sporting a new look these days.

The buses are being wrapped with a durable navy vinyl with new city and University of Mississippi logos on the side.

Will Hunt, the owner of Hunt Marketing Firm, was hired by the commission earlier this summer to design exteriors for the buses.

During the summer months, Hunt presented several different choices to the commission, including red buses, blue buses, red and blue buses, with or without stripes and different variations of logos.

After whittling down the list, the commission voted to approve a navy-colored bus, top to bottom, with a white stripe. On each end of the stripe will be the city of Oxford logo and on the other end, the University of Mississippi’s logo. On the back of the bus will be the OUT logo.

Thirteen buses are being wrapped by Signworx for a total cost of $71,035.

New buses purchased by OUT are being made to order to match the vinyl-covered buses.

A grant from the Mississippi Department of Transportation funds 80 percent of capital projects, leaving the city and university to fork up about $2,000 per bus.

“We are trying to standardize all buses so that around our community and campus one can recognize the O.U.T. System no matter what size buses or shuttles are being used,” said Oxford Transit Commissioner and director of Parking and Transportation for the university.
