Does President Donald Trump have something to hide?

The President of the United States typically releases their tax return for public eyes in the name of transparency, though no law dictates the release.

In these days before Americans file their taxes for 2017, Trump’s refusal to release his tax return publicly is causing a stir.

The problem is two-fold: One, Trump is the first major presidential candidate in four decades to withhold his tax return when running for office. Two, Trump said all along he would release his tax returns after an audit, then said he would release them after the election.

He’s made it clear he’s not planning to release his tax return, period, and accuses protesters on the issue of being “paid” to march.

We agree that since no law mandates that President Trump release his tax return, he has every right to withhold.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do.

Transparency is always best with public office, especially the highest public office in this land. Withholding tax returns gives doubt to many Americans who wonder if their president has something to hide.

We wish President Trump would release his tax return as once promised, and end this issue once and for all.
