Mrs. Mattie Austin Stripling Singletary, 92, died April 17, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Yellow Leaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Born in Lafayette County to the late George Robert and Ella Smith Stripling, Mrs. Singletary was retired from Marks Cleaners. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for over 20 years. She was actively involved in the Golden Prospectors Club at church.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie F. “Bilbo” Singletary and a daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Roberts and her husband, Leo of Memphis, Tennessee; sons, D.J. Singletary and his wife, Martha of Pontotoc, and Eddie Paul Singletary of Oxford; brother, Hugh Stripling of Oxford; two grandchildren, Kristi McCoy and her husband, Mike of Olive Branch, and Paul Michael Singletary and his wife, Elaine of Water Valley, and three great-grandchildren, Kendall Elaine McCoy of Olive Branch, Leslie Brooke Singletary of Oxford, and Jack Tyler Singletary of Oxford.
