The Oxford Police Department is investigating the death of a 92-year-old man who recently became a resident at the State Veterans Home in Oxford.

Dudley Bratton was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi earlier this week with a broken hip and possible other fractures. He was transferred to The Med in Memphis where he died Wednesday night.

OPD Maj. Jeff McCutchen said OPD was notified by The Med of Bratton’s death and investigators are awaiting the autopsy results.

Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy said Bratton’s body has been transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
