Andy Phillips of Oxford was elected as a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation. He was inducted into membership at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting and Fellows Induction Ceremony held at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson in April.

Phillips, an Oxford native, attended Ole Miss where he obtained both his undergraduate (BPA 1987) and Juris Doctorate (1989) degrees. Upon graduation from law school he served as law clerk to the Honorable David W. Houston, III, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. Following his clerkship, he became the founding member of Mitchell, McNutt & Sams, P.A.’s Creditor Rights Group and continues to represent creditors in business and consumer bankruptcy cases. He’s a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, past President of the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference, former member of the MBA’s Specialization Committee and the Local Rules Committee/U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. He is a member of the W. C. Keady Inns of Court, former Adjunct Professor to the University of Mississippi School of Law and is Chairman of Oxford’s Courthouse Square Historic Preservation Commission. He is the very proud father of two sons, Collier and Drew, both students at Ole Miss.
