Ole Miss baseball team warming up late

It seems like the Ole Miss baseball season started just yesterday, but already the final non-conference games at home have been played and the only regular season series left for Swayze Field is Texas A&M May 12-14.

Something tells us though, that while this college baseball season is in its final leg, that Ole Miss has plenty of excitement left.

This young Rebel team, including many of its freshman standouts from Oxford, is probably a few wins short of what some fans hoped for, yet they are coming on strong down the stretch.

With stellar pitching, the hitting has been warming up nicely throughout the lineup in recent weeks, helping Ole Miss take two of three from No. 14 Arkansas on the road last weekend. In fact, this Rebel team has won 13 of it last 18 games — a worthy feat in the difficult SEC.

The schedule will be difficult from here, with a three-game series at No. 5 Florida this weekend and another road trip to Auburn to end the regular season, but history tells us that teams with strong pitching always have a shot in the postseason.

And the bats are warming up just in time.

So even though this season has had some ups and downs, and it’s going by too quickly, we believe we haven’t heard the last from this Ole Miss baseball team.
