The Oxford Police Department has issued a BOLO for a stuffed lamb they say went missing Thursday.

The lamb, aka “Lamby,” was last seen at Kroger and is described as “small, fuzzy and gray,” by investigators.

Maj. Jeff McCutchen said the search for Lamby continues this morning.

Lamby is not considered dangerous — however, his absence has broken the heart of a little girl.

“We were contacted by her father yesterday, asking us if we could help,” McCutchen said. “So we put it on social media and it just kind of exploded from there.”

After OPD put out the “be on the lookout” for the stuffed lamb on Twitter and Facebook, area businesses started responding and offering rewards to anyone who found Lamby.

Businesses offering rewards for Lamby’s safe return include: Bedzz Express is offering an essential oil infused pillow; Funky’s is offering a $50 gift card; University Florida is offering a $75 gift card; LB’s Meat Market is offering 10 plate lunches; Heartbreak Coffee is offering a gift pack; Jinsei Sushi is offering a $50 gift card; Larson’s CashSaver is offering a $50 reward; Ole Miss Football is offering two tickets to the South Alabama game; Miconi Project Management is offering $50; Rafter’s Music and Food is offering a $50 gift certificate; and Blue Delta Jeans is offering a pair of jeans.

McCutchen said there have been a few naysayers who have posted negative comments about the effort being put in to find Lamby.

“Most of them who have posted don’t live in Oxford,” he said. “It was a quiet night, and the officers got a chance to help a little girl.”

McCutchen said it would be hard for someone to try to turn in a “fake” Lamby.

“It’s apparently a discontinued model,” he said.
