Robert Larry Poole Sr.

Robert Larry Poole Sr., age 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at his residence. He was born November 16, 1942, to Robert Ellis Poole and Charla Frances Austin. He was a graduate of Pontotoc High School and served as the Police Chief for the City of Pontotoc for 26 years.

At the time of his retirement in 2014, he was one of two of the longest serving Police Chief’s in Mississippi. He worked for the Pontotoc Police Department for a total of 43 years. He was the owner of the Toccopola Clinic. He was a Mason with the Pontotoc Masonic Lodge #81 and a Shriner. He enjoyed growing flowers and yard work.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, at West Heights Baptist Church with Dr. David Hamilton officiating; burial will follow in the West Heights Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is assisting the family.

Survivors include his children, Michelle Roberts (Ryan), Michael Poole, Tammy Fauver (Brandon) and Larry Poole, Jr. (Jo Anne); his mother, Charla Frances Austin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his wife, Myra White Poole.

Pallbearers will be Brad White, David White, Brian White, Mike Doss, Bill Rutledge and Bobby Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be the City of Pontotoc Police Department.

Visitation will be at West Heights Baptist Church, Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12 to 2 p.m.
