Edward Eugene White, 86, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at his home in Oxford. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Derryberry officiating. Burial will follow in Cambridge Cemetery. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born in Abbeville, to the late George G. and Alene Mills White, Mr. White was retired from the University of Mississippi where he worked as the grounds supervisor for 32 years. He was a member and deacon at Bay Springs Baptist Church. He found great pleasure in raccoon hunting with his coon dogs and also hunting deer. He worked many hours doing chores outdoors, especially bush hogging with his tractors and tending his vegetable garden. He always enjoyed giving his grandchildren dollar bills.

Survivors include his wife, Christine White of Oxford; a daughter, Debbie Verucchi and her husband, Charlie of Oxford; sons, John White and his wife, Beth of Coldwater, Leslie White and his wife, Mary Beth of Oxford, and Wesley White of Hernando; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
