Coleman funeral series addresses difficult questions

When a loved one dies, having to deal with the details surrounding their funeral can put additional stress on a family.

Coleman Funeral Home has developed a new series of educational talks for the public, called, “The Art of a Funeral.”

The new funeral forum series will cover three diverse funeral topics, including, “Why Should One Have a Funeral?”, “Myths vs. Facts” and “The Planning Process.”

The series will begin Tuesday with “Why Should One Have a Funeral?” at noon and 6 p.m. The second forum, “Myths vs. Facts” will be held at noon and 6 p.m. on July 18 and the final forum in the series will be held at noon and 6 p.m. on Aug. 15. All forums will be held at the Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford.

Glenn Coleman, co-owner, funeral service director and crematory operator will be leading each of the forums.

“Coleman Funeral Home has created this series to educate the consumers on the industry so they can better arm themselves with the knowledge to make the best decision for their loved ones,” Coleman said. “We want each family to create an informed decision when it comes to the finances and last wishes of their loved ones. If families can understand the reasoning and workings of the industry, then that helps them more clearly determine how they want to, can, or will be able to assist their loved ones.”

Director of Event Services Jeremy Roberts said the series will also be offered at Coleman’s new facility in DeSoto County once it is opened.

“Our goal at Coleman Funeral Home is to provide the best service for each family, that is unique to them, personalized to what they may want or need,” he said.

While the forums are free to the public, Coleman is asking those planning to attend to RSVP by noon the day before each session. A light lunch will be served during the noon sessions and light hors d’oeuvres at the evening sessions.
