LELAND — Memorial services for Taylor Webb, 89, of Leland were held on Thursday, July 27, at First Baptist Church, Leland. He died Tuesday, July 25 at his home. A quote from Taylor in 2004, “As I will no longer inhabit my body, I would like for it to return to nature as soon as possible.”  Services were under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.

Mr. Webb was a Protestant, and he became an Eagle Scout at the age of thirteen. He served overseas in non-combat during World War II, and after his discharge, he graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School at age twenty-two.  Mr. Webb practiced law in Leland from 1950 until 1990 except for a brief period when he returned to the military during the Korean War.

Mr. Webb served in various positions with the Mississippi Economic Council and other organizations affording him opportunities for public appearances. Since the 1960s he advocated public support for education and concern for all Mississippians as the solution for Mississippi’s economic and social problems.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Webb and sister, Baye Brent.
