Ole Miss’ SEC men’s basketball schedule announced

For the first time in four years, Ole Miss’ men’s basketball team will open its Southeastern Conference schedule against someone other than Kentucky.

The Rebels will start the league portion of their slate for the 2017-18 season at home against Final Four participant South Carolina on New Year’s Eve. Ole Miss will also close the regular season at The Pavilion against Vanderbilt on March 3.

The SEC released the conference schedules for each team Thursday.

Ole Miss’ 18-game SEC schedule also includes home games against Florida (Jan. 13) and Alabama (Jan. 23), trips to Georgia (Jan. 3), Texas A&M (Jan. 16), LSU (Feb. 10) and Kentucky (Feb. 28), and two games apiece against in-state rival Mississippi State, Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri and Arkansas.

The Rebels will host Mississippi State on Jan. 6 before making the return trip to Starkville on Feb. 17. Ole Miss will head to Auburn on Jan. 9 with the Tigers coming to Oxford on Jan. 30. The Rebels will travel to Tennessee on Feb. 3 and host the Volunteers on Feb. 24. Missouri will visit The Pavilion on Feb. 6 with Ole Miss making the return trip Feb. 20. Ole Miss will travel to Arkansas on Jan. 20 before hosting the Razorbacks on Feb. 13.

Game times and TV designations will be announced at a later date.
