Mr. Dow Harwell Jr., 69, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at his home in Coffeeville, MS.

Mr. Harwell was born in Oxford, MS.  He worked most of his life as a maintenance supervisor for MDOT.  He was a Mason and a member of the Banner Lodge, and he also served in the U.S. Navy.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2017, at 11 a.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Tula, MS.  Bro. Bob Cook will officiate.  Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Harwell of Coffeeville; his mother, Stella Harwell of Tula;  five daughters, Amanda (Trace) King of Paris, MS, Audrey (Craig) King of Water Valley, MS, Jodie (Criss) Denley of Coffeeville, Stefanie Carter of Bruce, MS, and Akesha (Russell) Calder of Coffeeville; two sons, Billy Gene Mayhan Sr. of Tocopola, MS, and Jay (Maggi) Cotten of New Albany, MS; two brothers, Jerry Harwell of Paris, and David (Missy) Harwell of College Grove, TN; three sisters, Lawanda Ann (Lawrence) Knighton and Lisa (Randy) Bishop, both of Oxford, and Evelyn Stevens of Tula; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hulon Dow Harwell.

In honor of Mr. Dow Harwell’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Navy will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home.
