A Pontotoc man was arrested Saturday for allegedly strangling his girlfriend.

Officers responded to S. 18th St. for a report of domestic violence. The alleged victim told officers that she was asleep when she awoke with Marshall Peeples, 21, on top of her strangling her.

After the assault, Peeples fled the house and was found later by OPD in another residence. He was charged with domestic violence with aggravated assault and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $30,000 bond.
