Wilma Howard Varner

Mrs. Wilma Howard Varner, 82, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017, at The Yalobusha County nursing home in Water Valley, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017, from 11a.m. to 12 p.m., at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017, immediately after the visitation at 12 p.m., also at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. Interment will be at Church Grove Cemetery in Oxford, MS. Bro. Jake Julian will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Varner lived most of her life in the Lafayette County area. She was employed with Varner Auto Repair as a secretary/bookkeeper for about 25 years. She also worked as a nurse’s aide for Graceland Nursing Home in Oxford.

Mrs. Varner is survived by four daughters, Amy Lou (Billy) Wells of Water Valley, Debbie Kaye (Steve) Standard of Water Valley, Martha Jean Phillips of Batesville, MS, and Elizabeth Estelle Blue of Oxford; two sons, Earl Eugene “Gene” (Annetta) Varner of Bremerton, WA, and Lynn (Tina) Varner of Water Valley. She is survived by one brother, Bob Howard of Lake Dallas, TX; two sisters, Annie Lois “Johnnie” Provence of Marks, MS, and Ruby Hall of Cleveland, MS. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Varner is preceded in death by her husband Earl H. Varner; two daughters, Wilma Faye Varner and Mamie Sue Varner; and seven siblings.
